Our beloved Cannes Film Festival is back and the most luxurious ladies are out to celebrate adorned head-to-toe in couture from Marchesa to Alberta Ferretti and Giambattista Valli. Setting the bar on day one with beautiful trained gowns were Diana Kruger and Eva Longoria in on-trend soft, pleated and ruffled pastels. Slumdog Millionaire Star Frieda Pinto split opinion in an unusual design by Michael Angel combining a sequined bodice with puffy peplum. Miss Lana Del Rey, one of our style icons of the moment, kept things vampy with black strapless gown - could she have gotten away with being a little more outlandish? Tilda Swinton rocked her usual alternative style in futuristic metallic gold folds by Haider Ackermann pulling her in at the waist and elongating her pins, whilst The Help star Jessica Chastain wore simple white Alexander McQueen.
