This green dress is amazing - but Keira is so slim in this movie... It is not only the dress the lighting and conposition is so amazing in this shot. What I always wonder, why this modern interpretations have hardly any accessories, where are all the handbags and jewelleries?

Ok, so I'm on the bus this morning, thinking about what it is that I like so much about the Atonement wardrobe..and I reckon it's very much to do with the fabrics. Satin, silk, crepe, it's all drapey and beautifully tactile, and luxurious. I tried on a gorgeous camisole top in Jigsaw yesterday. It was a soft grey silk, with satin trim, and thinking about it now, it was very Atonement.

Yes the styles in that film are certainly to die for but also the rich colours of the era. Colours that you can't put your finger on because their so sophisticated. I learned about classic colour by going out with a classic car enthusiast. He had an e-Type Jag in "Olde English White" not a white/cream sports car. The reason for good colour in that era was pre-chemical dyes! Whether it be uber-cool vintage sports cars or vintage dressmaking.

I absolutely love the green dress Keira wears in Atonement, but my favourite outfit was the white swimming costume and hat! So cool.
