Perfect Peplums: pick of the best

right end

The peplum. First of all, what is it? A peplum is a frill of material, normally starting at the waist and stops around the hips, that flares out to create a kind of skirted effect. Peplum's were set to be huge for Spring Summer 2012 and with Kate Middleton stepping out wearing one this week, we suspect they're going to hit an all time high. Peplum's have already seen massive success on the high-street meaning they're here there and everywhere. The tricky part is how to wear them? Coming in tops, blouses, dresses and skirts the options are endless. f you're unsure about wearing peplums, there are more subtle styles to go for. Try out the trend in a blouse or top which just has a small frill detail peplum at the waist. It might be best to opt for this in print which will help make the peplum blend in a bit more to your silhouette without making such a statement. Team this with fitted jeans or a slim fitting pencil skirt to let the top do all the talking. Stick to colours that your familiar with and feel comfortable in already, perhaps afterwards you can go on to test the trend with more out there shades. If you're feeling okay about wearing a peplum shape but aren't quite there confidence-wise to go to the extreme, try opting for a dress. Make sure the it's a nice slim fit to hug all your curves so that the peplum really stands out. Team this with sky scraper heels to give you some height and why not put a skinny belt at the top of the peplum to complete the look? Stick to black for a sophisticated option or if you're feeling daring, why not try red? If you're feeling ready to tackle anything fashion wise, then the peplum is for you. There's so many peplum styles out there that can really help you make the fashion statement you're looking for. Why not try a body dress which features a contrasting coloured peplum for the ultimate in colour blocking? Opt for a brave and bold pop colour peplum tee and team it with a contrasting coloured skirt for a look that really wows. Finish the look off with colour co ordinated heels and an oversized bright clutch.
