Ankle boots erupted onto the fashion circuit some time ago and they aren’t going away anytime soon – fact – they’re here to stay. Whether it’s the classic Chelsea boot, the simplistic block heel or a lace up detailed number, if it’s ankle length then you’re ticking the fashion boxes. As well as being stylish, the shorter ankle length boot is great for winter and can be a super comfortable alternative to a high heel. When the weather gets warm enough, team with bare legs and midi lengths for a stark contrast or why not match simply with tights in the colder months? Whether you fancy grabbing yourself a pair of stylish lace up flats or a chunky heeled pull on’s, ankle boots are the way to stay fashionable all year round. For some inspiration on how to wear – check out the girls in the gallery below who we think are working ankle boots with true style.

  • Nina, 20, Make-up Artist

We loved Nina's effortless styling. Pairing her spray on jeans with a brown belt and heeled ankle boots from Topshop shows off her fantastic figure. Add a simple black jumper with an infamous peter pan collared shirt to get the look.

  • Elena, 31, Creative

Elena looks amazing in her collarless Zara jacket and red cropped trousers. Her suede Bertie boots complete the outfit. A smart and subtle look.

  • Kristie, 17, Essex

We loved Kristie's floral sheer shirt tucked into black shorts - an effective outfit that shows smart doesn't have to be boring. Styled up with faux fur ankle boots, this is a look we'll definitely be copying!

  • Beth, 14, Bicester

Beth's outfit is laid back but pretty. The orange floral top really pops with her purple shoulder bag. We love her simple blue jeans and black ankle boots too.

  • Sydney, 16, Student

Syndey lets her floral blouse do the talking, layering over a simple black vest  and skinny jeans from H&M. We loved her vintage lace up ankle boots!

  • Zoe, 18, Coventry

Zoe (right) is wearing a beautiful hot pink graduated skirt which she has toughened up with lace up boots and a black vest. Adding masculine details to feminine pieces is a great way to do understated androgyny this winter.
