There’s no denying that the colder weather can play havoc with our fashion senses causing us to wrap up warm and layer, layer, layer. This doesn’t always have to be frumpy and fashion-less, as the girls in our gallery below are proving – keeping snug can (and does) involve keeping stylish. Fortunately, we’ve been supplied with an array of goregous knits by all our favourite fashion shops like Topshop, Urban Outfitters and my-wardrobe, which make keeping warm a fashion fanatics idea of fun. Whether it’s chunky knit, detailed cable, or ultra fine we’re learning lots from the ladies below on how to work knitwear into our wardrobe. Check out their looks and our handpicked buys to help you get their look.

  • Joanna, 26, Researcher

Joanna's clashing fusion of styles and colours make for a great winter outfit. She layers with a practical combination of an H&M denim shirt under a bang on trend oversized Topshop knit jumper and classic Barbour coat. And we want that bow!

  • Mary, 22, Fashion Student

As soon as we spotted Mary, we fell in love with her ability to accessorise! Her purple hat offsets the cream cable knitted jumper beautifully, and when teamed with jeans and slouch boots, it makes for a casual but stylish outfit.

  • Michele, 23, Student

We love Michele's cosy Mango knitted wrap coat and cute shearling ankle boots.

  • Rachel, 21, Intern

An oversized stripey jumper is one of this season's must have pieces and we love Rachel's burnt orange Topshop number. She keeps the rest of her outfit simple with some black leggings and ankle boots.

  • Rosie, 16, Student

Rosie's eclectic outfit features a key piece for this winter - oversized knitwear. Teamed with simple black leggings, blue suede creepers, and a faux fur hat, this look is playful and fresh.

  • Jennifer, 24, Marketing

We loved Jennifer's quirky styling and layers! Leather jackets and denim shirts can be a difficult mix, but Jen pulls it off by teaming it with a ditsy floral skirt and seasonal accessories.

  • Catherine, 19, Student

Catherine's printed day dress from Tesco is a great piece to carry through the autumn. Add a chunky cable knit cardigan, thick socks and this seasons best ankle boots to get a casual-cute look.

  • Rosie, 16, Student

Knitwear is a key trend for this autumn, and Rosie's navy Urban Outfitters jumper looks great over an American Apparel chiffon shirt. Converse trainers give this otherwise ladylike look a boyish twist.
